Get to Know Dr. Sam, Your Suffolk, VA Chiropractor

Hi! I am Dr. Samuel Gainor, or as many call me, Dr. Sam. Since my family moved to Hampton Roads in 1997, this area has been my home. I have lived in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Chesapeake. Sharing what I learn in simple and practical ways has become fun for me! It helps me stay passionate about helping others get rid of their pain, but more importantly, increase their quality of life.

While attending Old Dominion University, I learned that Engineering was not the right major for me. I enjoy working with my hands and helping others, and I ended up landing on Chiropractic. Now I get to work with my hands while helping improve other people’s health.

I didn’t go to a Chiropractor growing up and figured it was normal to have some little aches, pains, and challenges with my health. Seasonal allergies and getting sick when the weather changed were common, and I accepted that it was “normal.” Little did I know how wrong I was. It is not normal, but rather, it is common.

My Chiropractic Experience

Scoliosis and curvature of the spine run in my family. Mine started to show up around my late teens to mid-20s. The aches and pains from my Scoliosis that started me on my own Health Journey felt minor, but if left alone, they could have caused early-onset arthritis and degenerative changes in my spine. (Scoliosis is a curve in the spine that is over 10 degrees when measured on an X-ray.) That change would have decreased my mobility and quality of life.

My first Chiropractor did an exam that included X-rays. Posture and family history were the major reasons that X-rays were needed. The images confirmed that I had curvature in my spine with subluxations in two areas. First, in the upper back, and secondly, in my lower back.

Subluxations were explained to me as the bones of the spine rotating out of proper position. This led to the curve in my upper back, which caused one shoulder to be higher than the other. It was also the reason my neck held tension on the left, causing daily issues.

After my exam, I came back to get a Report of Findings and my first adjustment.

I was set.

My course was clear, and my Chiropractic Journey began.

Now I help increase the function of the nervous system and decrease the pain that others feel. What we often consider “normal” is not really normal, but rather, what is common. Once we start believing pain and problems are normal, we will not seek out solutions to the pain.

Now I work to teach others:

  • Care for your health before it becomes a problem.
  • It is never too early or too late to start with health care.
  • It is easier to maintain a system, so prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Don’t Wait Until It’s Too Late!

Any pain experienced is a warning sign that something is not working at its best. Sometimes, it is how your body lets you know it is fighting something that is not beneficial for your health. An ache or pain that persists is a sign that something needs to change. Health can only be expressed when all systems work at their best!

Your body, health, and posture are connected. If you are feeling aches, pains, or a dysfunction, Chiropractic may be right for you! Contact us today and schedule a new patient consultation and examination so we can assist you in reaching your health goals!

I look forward to serving you and your family and helping you Set Sail to Better Health!
